After my Co-wash i left the condition in my hair for about an hour and i noticed that my new growth had started to "pop" ( i term i heard used by fellow youtubers with natural hair). im am beginning to wonder if that is what my curl pattern will look like if i were to do my big chop. my initial plan was to transition until the end of the year and do my bc on dec 31st so that it would be a new year new hair kinda thing... let me know what you think and what you think i should do...

  • Long term transitioner here: It is really up to you. If you don't mind starting out with a twa then go for it! If styling both textures is getting on your last nerve just do it! It is just hair and will grow back and you can test products and regimens on your natural hair without the relaxed ends hanging on. Everybody decides at different times. I wanted more length so that is why I have transitioned going on 15mths tomorrow. I will big chop July 1st. Good luck to you :)

  • 15 months wooow thats long time, i dont think i have the patience lol. what are some things that you have done to protect your hair especially during these hot summers?

  • I agree with Lovly6680. I would wait until you get a few more months of new growth. That way, you won't be shocked with such a dramatic change of going from length to another

  • I would hold off on for a few months, I know it's tough cause I'm right where you are.But if you'll feel better about it...go ahead and do it.

  • girl i am going thru the same thing...check out my channel. Everyday I look in the mirror and contemplate just grabbing the scissors and going at it. I don't want to do braids because my hair is so fragile. Keep us posted on what you decided. Good luck either way.

  • i can tell a TWA will look pretty on you, so if u want to cut it the by all means my girl just go for it but i would maybe keep on transitioning for maybe 1 or 2 more months, i transitond for 3 mnths, and loved my BC.

  • Please wait until you are possitively, absolutely ready for the BC. Your hair is beautiful and will be when you decide to BC. Healthy hair grows slowly and you should be ready mentally too. Just my opinion. All the best to you.

    Peace & Abundant Blessings

  • Believe me, it was not easy especially around month 6 but I just kept going. Cowashing, no heat and keeping my scalp and hair moisturized have been key to minimizing breakage. I have been wearing a lot of buns too. There are a lot of videos on youtube with other protective styles you can try. Hope this helps. :)

  • your curl pattern might appear "wavy" now because you still have the straight hair "pulling" against it. granted, your curl pattern will be pretty - 'cause our hair is just pretty. *S* but i wouldn't jump the gun just yet. then again, a summer w/ 2 textures is no joke. i know this from experience also. still, you can do it. do what your heart says. i just don't want you to expect one thing and get another.
