On Sept. 3, the Colorado State Board of Accountancy held a rule-making hearing to consider its proposed rules to incorporate the changes resulting from Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, Jr., signing House Bill 10-1236 in April, 2010. Of particular note, the new rules, which are expected to be effective, Oct. 30, 2010, outline the requirements for 150 hours of education to apply for a Colorado CPA certificate on July 1, 2015, and later and also set the peer review requirements for Colorado CPAs and CPA firms which issue attest or compilation reports, effective with renewal of CPA certificates and firm registrations in 2014.
