Holy crap, you ARE right. Those pigs weigh over 4,000 lbs! =8O My 1/2 ton Suburan only weighed 5200 with a 2" lift and 31" tires. They must line the floor with lead to make that plastic fantastic weigh so much.

@Artelian1 My vehicle is a Chevrolet Suburban, which is their larger truck chassis SUV. I cannot comment accurately on any of Kia's shortcomings and each car maker makes their own ABS (usually) and they all behave differently.
Ideally, the ABS would be off in most cases off road because you usually are driving at slow speeds.
I really don't think ABS is often a problem off road.
However, traction control can cause problems because sometimes you need to spin your tires off road.

@l337pwnage This it's for all 4x4 or only for Kia ?
I' have a T3 Syncro and was from few rare model with ABS.
I' hear some stories about ABS it's not good in offroad, but no strong info.
Just curios....on flat mud terain, the ABS affect the traction ?

@MTLbigJ I had a couple times where I had to force a lockup while the ABS pump was buzzing, and man did the tires howl and it took a LOT of pedal force to do that. I thought I was gonna bend the steering wheel because I had to pull up on it to create more force on the brakes to stop.
Its a known problem, the factory fix was to change later model ABS systems to engage only at higher speeds, then the sensors low speed inaccuracy would not matter when they sensors got old.
-
@MTLbigJ ABS is fine, it allows stupider people to stop in a safer fashion, but the reason I pulled the fuse was the system in my vehicle has a known flaw where it false activates at low speeds. The sensors go bad, and I had a shop replace them, but they must have installed the wrong ones or they installed them incorrectly, cuz it started randomly engaging at all speeds, so I pulled the fuse. I need to fix it eventually, I need ABS for my 4x4 system to work correctly.

@l337pwnage WHY would u do that...
-
@WBarts Well, you can e-mail the automotive engineers of every company(or Kia anyway) your suggestion.
I pulled the fuse on my ABS, its off ALL the time now. :)
