We don't use peak ratings. We have burped 3500 watts on one so far, though.

Haha. The idea of the test is to simulate the worst possible situation for the speaker thermally. Which is high power / lower excursion. Passing this test indicates it will handle much more power thermally on music where excursion is higher.
