What would be even cooler is once Gnash is stable, if GNU goes one step further and makes a program to create .swf files. Then .swf might be an open standard, and Adobe would lose the battle. Although that's just my pipe dream.

It's not like they have any Adobe source code. They're working from the ground up, and it's pretty good for what it is right now.

gnash is awesome! Finally we can escape from adobe's evil licensing. I want to see if I can strip off flash lite 3 and replace it with gnash configured for an envirnment with memory and space constraints, such as my chumby, maybe someone can give advice into doing such thing.
