Who do you think you are adding notes to bach's music? You aren't his nagging wife that tells him how to write his music or anything like that. If you were you 'd sound like this:
"Johann! Add an octave to those beautiful runs that you composed without any help from me! No one would ever know the difference!"
And you 'd be wrong. So BAM.

BRAVA!!! CHE TEMPERAMENTO!!!

why would you use the pedal?
good performance other than that and the extra notes..

Strepitosa e bellissima esecuzione!

Thanks for posting this. I'm interested in nineteenth-century piano performance practice of Bach's music, and trying at the moment to learn a couple of the preludes and fugues of the Well Tempered Clavier from the Busoni edition and some Reger transcriptions. Is there a Busoni recording of this particular prelude and fugue? I love the rubato and pedalling in his recording of the C major prelude that has been posted up on YouTube.

there were some notes played accented that probably shouldn't have been (fugue) and the bottom notes were played too heavily, while they weren't the theme (prelude). you're welcome to make your own interpretations, but i think adding to the runs took away from the light, fluttery feeling that was originally composed. overall, a technical performance, but perhaps too heavy. this is supposed to be a light piece.

interesting interpretation! don't mind the crybabies here..... you are free to play as you like- but in a concert though some might not like so drastic a modified interpretation.

@blicklepants Yeah, you're right. Bach's music should be preserved and not changed at all. For instance, Bach himself NEVER improvised, or changed his peices on the fly in performance. And certainly he would never doing anything showy. And God forbid somebody make the peice their own.
Grande lavoro! C'è qualche raddoppio?

i raddoppi di ottave sono dovuti all'edizione di Busoni che uso appunto in questa esecuzione!!

Please tell me about your Erard. I also have an Erard purchased in Europe 48 years ago.

Unfortunately it isn't my Erard. This piano belongs to Istituto Assunzione in Rome where I played in concert ten and six years ago. The sound was very enchanting! You are lucky to have an Erard....are you a pianist?
