I actually just saw this train going through a grade crossing in Guadalupe, California today, September 5, 2010 at noon. I got it on video. It was a pretty nice catch. I think I will post the video on You Tube.

@doug33020 A conveyor inside the higher tube delivers coal to be stacked and stored, and the lower tube has a conveyor to remove coal to be crushed and burned as needed. They started constructing it in 2007 and I believe it was finsihed in 2009.

@doug33020 The gold-colored dome is a coal storage facility for a cogeneration power plant for Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), an agricultural processor plant. It is made of reinforced concrete that is 1 foot thick at the base and 6 inches thick at the top. The gold color comes from a gold protective fabric that covers the concrete. There are two tubes connected to the dome that contain conveyors that deliver and remove coal.

Awesome catch!
what is that big gold dome in the background?
1983 was in Marshalltown IA. 1995 and 2001 were both in Proviso. Damn I want them to put 2001 on a WB Geneva sub train.
