@erock2891 Continuing #4, I've seen plenty of American nationalists responding to Japanese videos with "Japan sucks" and even "Two nukes weren't enough", and I've also seen PR Chinese nationalists denying PRC and North Korean atrocities and accusing the Western media of having faked them. So yeah, such bigots exist everywhere, you should just ignore them. Sorry for this multi-part response though, but I just had a lot to say. I hope I haven't wasted too much of your time. :p
@erock2891 Continuing #3, the USA may have disallowed Japan to have a military but they recreated one anyway (JSDF), albeit for self-defense only, and Germany did the same too (Bundeswehr). I'd agree with Germany getting a full military though, their Government is mature enough and stopped with territorialism. Japan, though, in my opinion, needs a better Government which recognizes all historical atrocities and stops with any territorical claims.
@erock2891 Continuing #2, Italy did its own fascist atrocities. Germany did the Holocaust. Israel did crap against the Palestinians and the Palestinians vice-versa. Let's face it, there's not a single country on the world that has never done any atrocities. As for denying, not all Japanese people deny the atrocities. I have plenty of Japanese friends who fully recognize the atrocities and express dismay at their Government refusing to do the same. Idiots are everywhere and should be ignored.
@erock2891 Continuing, my point is, all countries have done atrocities in history at one point or another. Japan did Nanking etc. US did Abu Ghraib and the A-bombings. North Korea oppresses people over opinions. South Korea did so too under Syngman Rhee. Poland killed Ukrainians in Lvov and Ukrainians killed Poles. Soviet Union did the Holodomor against the Ukrainians. England and Spain killed a lot of Native Americans centuries ago. SFR Yugoslavia killed Italians in the foibe.
@erock2891 Well nationalism exists on all sides. I've seen plenty of Korean nationalists on YouTube denigrating all the rest of East Asia (even China). Also, it's not like America is all honest about what they do or did. I once saw a documentary about Korean (yes, Korean) survivors of the A-bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Koreans were outraged at the Americans refusing to pay reparations. Let's also not mention US TV not mentioning much of stuff like Abu Ghraib.
@OBrasilo I agree with you. It's just that I watch a lot of Korea related videos because I live here and love this place. It wouldn't irritate me so if it wasn't for the fact that on every single one there is some Japanese disaffected person being critical to Korea or Koreans. It's irritating and racist fueled hatred. They molest history while making baseless claims. As an American I am happy to set their record straight. There is a reason the USA disallowed them to have a military.
@erock2891 Korea and China need to stop living in 1945 and get over things. Remember and mourn yes but to continue going at Japan's throats over it, it's getting a bit old. Do you see Israel going at Germany's throats over the Holocaust? Seriously, concentrate on collapsing North Korea and People's Republic of China who are still committing atrocities to this day instead of going at Japan who has stopped long ago.
@taka2010jp As an American living in Korea perhaps your own government should educate your own people as to the atrocities committed in history not once but twice in history against the people of the Republic of Korea. Korean people do not hate Japan but they are also not stupid and they have a vivid memory. You invaded them twice without provocation and WE had to kick you out the second time. Stop this nonsense. You LOST the war. Also, Dok-do belongs to Korea because WE awarded it to them.
@OBrasilo fair points on all counts. i guess we live in a pretty fucked up world if you get right down to it lol.
