  • @orangehornet57 Letterman is acerbicly funny, even if that word does not exist. This show was the antithesis of his kind of humor.

  • This show ranks up there with The Brady Bunch Hour and Pink Lady as the worst variety shows of all time. Note that MTM is about the only person from her 70s sitcom to not have another hit show. OK, Georgia Engel only qualifies on account of her recurring roles on Coach and Everybody Loves Raymond. This was the first time I ever saw David Letterman. He's still not funny. What about the dumb skit with Harvey Korman about the girl who won't eat her vegetables, or the Ed Asner Dancers?

  • @monkynmee57 I know what you mean, but I think every generation might get some sort of pang of loss. I remember Jackie Susann saying that 1968 was the last good year, when people got things right. Of course, that's debatable. But it depends on your life, what you were doing and how you felt then. I also recall the early 70s as wonderful, then things got lame, tacky, dirty, lacking quality... and the feeling we were losing things, like Mary's hair. But not Little Friskies and Bounce!

  • Dave, Michael, and Mary all together in one show -- wow! Too bad this program didn't make it. And Mary looks really HOT!!

  • Yeah, when I was 7 I was REEEEALLY concerned about Watergate and Vietnam (eyeroll)

  • @monkynmee57

Wow, Watergate and Vietnam were goofy?

  • Seeing this again reminds me how different the 2 parts of the 70's were...for me personally '78 was the "beginning of the end," for some reason. Everything had been so fun and goofy up until then, then suddenly...disco...gold chains...Brady Bunch hours...Star Wars...Mary with short hair, ha ha...Even the Carol Burnett show fell apart. What happened, I wonder?

  • I believe the guy ding the voice over at the beginning was none other than David Letterman.

  • I loved this show and was heart broken when it was cancelled after only three weeks. Luckily a local station aired another two more shows that CBS never did that I got to see! Because it was pre video days for me, I only have the shows on audio tape but I wish they could release it on DVD. They have at least 11 shows in the can (8 which never aired on CBS).

  • Mary shoulda just stuck with the longer hair
