The Oregon Health Authority explains their study of pesticides involving 36 volunteers from the Triangle Lake Oregon area.
Unexpected results from urine tests performed by Dana Barr of Emory University alerted Oregon state and federal authorities to a problem.
Atrazine and 2,4-D normally are not found in the body a few days after exposure. All urine tests of dozens of residents in the Blachly area have come back positive for these two herbicides, with elevated levels found after nearby aerial spray of these chemicals.
Timber companies and the State of Oregon spray tons of herbicides each year near homes where people live and near schools where kids are educated in the coast range of Oregon.
Parts 1-4 describe the upcoming study, Parts 5-20 are public testimony.
