This video is a tribute to the women of the American Civil War. They endured as much hardship and suffering as the men. Some of the women in this video were spies or nurses. See if you can spot the soldier that is actually a woman!

Respectful comments welcome.

  • I just noticed that as I scroll down to read more comments, the volume gets quieter by it self.. strange

  • @Drandon How many women died during the war, North and South? Contrast that statistic, and take into account the rigors and horrors of the march, camp life, and ultimately, the battlefield and any reasonable person can quite quickly determine that the men suffered more than the women. Give me a break!

  • @5muftak

You could make that case for Northern women, but for loss of loved ones. However the South was left in complete ruin. Women not only lost their husbands, sons, and brothers, they lost their homes, their land, and in many cases their entire communities.

Many southern towns were blasted into rubble, homes looted, in some cases, women abused. I don't think it ridiculous to say they suffered as much as men. Some suffered more.

  • Are you kidding me? The women "endured as much hardship and suffering as the men" during the war?! What a completely ridiculous statement!!

  • Great take on this song, the best on tube! Do you have any CDs out? Please sing us something else!! RLH

  • The only monument I have seen put up in honor of the women of the Confederacy is on Capitol Square Raleigh, N.C.
