  • @bobsciascia I study with Si-gung Yang Jwing Ming and own all his works, He never mentions Hou Yuan Jia as the creator of any form, everything taught at Chin Woo after his death was brought in from different styles. Rumors and storys are common but not always correct, but this is why we have the internet(cross referrence) so the likely hood of this being from Hou Yuan Jia and not well known about it is slim, His life n work is too well documented for this to be true. please show us ur "sources"

  • @bobsciascia Actually even if you had Gung Li Chuan in mind it still is not correct. Agian Hou Yuan Jias life is well documented as in the styles or any forms he might of created but Gung Li Chuan was founded by Chao Lian (1657 - 1748) who was from Shanxi Province in China. Gung Li is a form which is used by many styles as a basic training set. This form uses dynamic tension as part of it's training methods.

  • AGAIN, %100 MY Fault. I had Gong Li Chuan in my head. Hou died in 1909. I do both forms so I should know better. We do the "Dragon" version with the "Dragon soars side steps and dragon claw Pi Chuans" in our school possibly altered by Wang Ju Jen and Centeral Nanjing Institute in 1928. Again, i confused Gong Li's history with Lian Bu's for a sec as they are usually taught back to back. Yes, 99% of the time i know better and the difference between the two. Sorry again and thanks for the correcti

  • You are 100% correct. I had Gong Li Chuan in my head for some reason. My bad. Lien Bu is 1928 Central Nanjing Institute. I am up on my history; but sometimes make a mistake which i will fully admit. Hou did create Gong Li according to Jwing Ming Yang and seveal other sources. Sorry for the confusion brothers.

  • Opps my bad! so sorry. I was thinking Gong Li Chuan from Hou Yuan Jai. You are right

  • Hou yuan jia died ten years before this form was created....Also it was not extactly created as i said earlier but "created from" dragon boxing but revised and restructured at the Nanjing institute and adopted for basic training for northern long fist and for the republic of china's national army.

In fact you can watch it on youtube done by shaolin monks under the title "LONG QUAN" or dragon fist.

  • for someone whos trains as much as you say for 9 years and also teach, you should also know your styles and forms history which i find very important for cultural reasons but anyways just wanted to correct you on your statement MASTER HOU YUAN JIA of Chin Woo didnt create Lian Bu Quan nor did he create any forms...i find it kind of funny as this is the first time i heard anyone say that..But this form here was created in the 1920s at the Nanjing martial arts institute and not at Chin Woo....=X

  • @bobsciascia so whats the problem.....the kid is pushing him self....how can you say that he isnt???

but there is a way to go where you want...and this way is slow and take like 30 years....ive been praticing for the last 10 years.i know that my katys are good cos i do them the best i can...

if someone pushes more than he can he will get injured...this is certailny

  • I appreciate my teachers correct me and oush me. It makes my Kung Fu better. If you can't take constructive critisism (especially when its not even directed at YOU) You should not be training. At our school we get corrected dozen of times per night and love it. Again, it brings out the best in us. So chill out, I didn't trash Mad Cow, I said "Not bad, just a few pointers". Not once did i saw "bad" or "Wrong". I just think it needs a little work as do some of my forms. This stuff is NOT easy!
