I have my dvds stored in two cabinets that has multiple shelves and can hold two rows per shelf. One cabinet is for live action and the other is for anything animated. Each shelf has sort of a theme either by actor, director, odd box size/packaging or genre with my favorites in the front row and the so so ones behind. Then from there I arrange them light dark light dark to make the whole cabinet seem more colorful. Unless they are part of a series then I keep them in order.
I have them by genre, more or less, because there are some movies I don't know where the hell to put them!!..hahaha...I have a shelf only for TV shows, which are also arranged by genre. The other shelf, goes like this: from top shelf to last shelf: Oscar movies, comic book based/adventure movies, romantic comedy, musicals, comedy, Horror movies, Disney, Pixar and other cartoon movies, fantasy/adventure/children movies, indi movies, thrillers and action movies, war movies, period dramas....
LOL! Who's gonna help you?? I have no order really except for like my bond films they're from oldest to newest.. and like movies that have parts are together... very random! LOL x
I have all of my Doctor Whos in one section, which are arranged in chronological order with my Torchwood box set on the top shelf. Then my TV box sets are separate, with the box sets up the top self, and the regular series are arranged via genre and alphabetized within the genre, same for my films & blu rays which are in separate sections. My film box sets are the only ones that aren't arranged in a particular way, mostly I've put them in a place where I can display them :)
I have my films and TV on different shelves. My tv is alphabetical order with big, complete series sets on top of the shelf.
My films are as follows (every category is in alphabetical order): blu rays, big box sets, dvds with slipcases, dvds without slipcases, and finally snapper cases. I did it this way just for looks. I organize it by genre next.
Nice to see a new video :D Can't wait to see which way you end up choosing.
I have mine arranged in genres, and I have loads of them...nearly 30! :O I also have some special sections within each genre(like all my disney films together) I've tried alphabetical, but I don't like the way it looks very much...I thought about tinkering and maybe doing chronological and putting directors and actors together, but doing that would be a colossal undertaking and probably take more than 4 hours!
I just have mine in alphabetical order, same with any films I have on my computer. If I started going by directors or actors, etc it would just do my head in I think
