The ending of Gideon. Charlton Heston (Addison) is well known for his roles in the epic films The Ten Commandments (Moses,1956) and Ben-Hur (Judah Ben-Hur, 1959).

  • I hate it when Gideon dies. Good movie though.

  • @ChibiProwl Gideon has leukemia.

  • This was a great example of Charlton Heston's acting ability. He never stopped growing as an actor, and human being. He knew what it was all about to be fully engaged every year, that he lived. He knew what living was all about. He mentioned the most pertinent thing about Gdieon (Lambert) how he "listened" how well we all could learn to profit from the words of this great man;(Heston) he was wise even in the roles that he played.

  • This is one of my all time favorite movies - one of Charlton Heston's best, in my opinion, but also one of his lesser known works. This scene is so touching now, in light of Heston's death today.

To answer ChibiProwl's question without spoiling the movie too much, Gideon dies of leukemia - but not before changing the lives of the people he comes to live with in an old-age home. The movie also stars Shirley Jones, Shelley Winters, Carrol O'Connor, Christopher Lambert and Harvey Korman.

  • Ok This movie has piqued my interest. What's wrong with Gideon?
