The evidence of a blindfold is conflicting. On one hand it is likely, but she did however keep glancing around, which would be pointless had she been blindfolded. There is also a record that when beheaded, her eyes and mouth continued to move some time afterwards, which if blindfolded, would not have been seen.

Actually, just before she died she commented icily to Kingston,"Commend me to his His Majesty who has been constant in his career of advancing me. From a private gentlewoman he made me a Countess, then a Queen, and now, having no higher degree of earthly honour, he awards my innocency the crown of martyrdom." That's ballsy, since you were expected to concede the justice of the sentence.

@TheJaking14 she didnt have an affair with anybody, she was charged and convicted on trumped up charges....henry wanted to get rid of her because she didnt give him the son she had promised....and she had the temper of a rottweiller on steroids!!

There was no coffin for her. Her women put her body in an arrow chest they found. A full-length body wouldn't normally have fit. In any case, she did not see a coffin. Moreover, according to the accounts, the sword was hidden in the straw and it was arranged for her to be suddenly distracted, so she did not actually see it. JumpStreet1983, the evidence is that the charges of adultery were trumped up because Henry simply wanted to get rid of her.

It was incredibly inhumane for her to see the box her body would soon be in, as well as no blindfold on her eyes to shield her from seeing the sword. What an awful way to leave this world, and all because she couldn't bear a son.
