@greenvalet - Close. When using dry yeast, it isn't necessary BUT, the instructions generally advise on rehydrating prior to pitching. Rehydrating is simply that, mixing the dry yeast into a slightly warm cup of water to wake them up and get them ready to work prior to pitching.
A yeast starter is simply a small wort that you pitch any yeast, dry or liquid, into so that you can pitch them at high kreusen. They'll get to work on your actual wort much faster with a starter.
Great vids but I have a question on the back of something you said.... What is the difference between rehydrating the yeast and making a yeast starter? In both instances my understanding is that you are activating the yeast in a wort/sugar solution...
@OPE08 your vids are great! i'm learning a lot. It was just the music in this video in particular that seemed a little loud, just trying to listen as close as possible to what you're saying. I'm really looking forward to getting away from brewing with the canned kits. Finding a brew kettle worried me, all the homebrew places around where i live in Canada just sell kit components (basic tools required for the canned process). So i was glad to see that you can use a turkey fryer. Thanks again!!
I like your videos, but the music in this one is quite distracting. Thanks for making the vids, i am starting out as an extract brewer and trying to learn as much as i can about all grain brewing. I appreciate that you have taken the time to make videos for brewers like me looking to take it to the next step.

@iraaikman - well, I'm sorry about the music then, but I'm glad that the videos help.
Learning how to put together an interesting video that is both entertaining AND informative is tricky!
Cheers!
