Randy Pausch, Ph.D., a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon, has advanced pancreatic cancer. Since his diagnosis a year ago, he has undergone surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, as well as an experimental pancreatic cancer vaccine treatment. But the cancer has metastasized to his liver and spleen. On September 18, he delivered a farewell lecture to a packed lecture hall. In this video produced by Greg Laub for MedPage Today, we present the highlights of that lecture.

  • What's so funny? The truth?

  • LMAOOOO!!! LOL. THAT was pretty epic. "Being recycled back into the carbon cycle and his other atoms are doing likewise."

LMAO. Well, good, now I can get on with my life. Oh, did I mention that I'm LMAO?!

Take your advice and put it where the sun never shines, the same place you extracted the assertion that Randy is in the company of a god. The good professor is no more. He is being recycled back into the carbon cycle and his other atoms are doing likewise. He has left behind a legacy for sure, but his 'spirit' or 'soul' , most probably, is not existing anywhere. Just like all living things, all get recycled back into where they came. Peace

  • Advice:

Un-wad the undies and check your ego at the door.

I echo diana: God (whoever people conceive Him to be) is in good company with Randy.

  • Fantastic job.

  • Please watch the full 90 minute lecture on the uni site. It has not been edited for anything. Before you go pushing religion(delusion) on others, you should check to see if they really want you to do so. It is a slap in the face to anyone that has worked hard to escape the delusion and then have someone slap god on them. It's like blowing tobacco smoke into an ex-smokers face, not a good idea. Also, I would guess that his family would not appreciate the prayers as well.

  • I wasn't pushing anything...I was just making an observation as I see it in my eyes. I also heard that God was edited out of Randy's speech b/c it might offend some ...especially on the Oprah Show ..she didn't allow Him to be acknowledged

  • Notice Prof. Pausch never mentioned a deity once. He gave his last lecture, carrying a terminal disease, and never gave god or Jesus a mention. The best way to dishonour him would be to state exactly what you said. You need to just honour the man for his courage and love of family. We don't need god to love or feel love. Your membership in the delusion of religion is yours. DON'T push your delusion. Many want no part of it.

  • God is in good company with Randy
