I've heard this song sung by Dolly's friend Linda Ronstadt first, then I've heard it sung by Whitney. They are great singers, but as much as I enjoy their versions of her song, it is Dolly who lived every word before she wrote those words down. Dolly wrote it, and she sings it with every bit of emotion she can put into it. She sings with pure honesty! She makes me believe her! No one else makes me feel the heartbreak of this song like Dolly!
