Ive learned alot from trial and error. If the mother is young, you might lose a few babies---as i did -- and that is why I tried to fed it myself. The mom/dad should continue to feed it even though it fell out of the nest. contrary to most wives tales, birds will still feed their young after 'humans' have touch it. The one I was feeding, I put back in after 2 days and the mom fed it fine!! glad you saved it from the bottom of the cage!! good luck!
i hope this message reaches u in time...i have a baby finch that is about 2 days old and i found it lying on the cage floor this afternoon. i put it bak in the nest and its still doing good. i dont know if the mother is feeding it or not. she keeps sitting on it plus there are other finches in the cage too. i dont no if i shud feed it? can u please help me? shud i take him out of the nest and take care of it? please tell me wat i have to do for it to survive outside its nest? please! thanks!
alot of young moms dont know what to do with their young and a few will die...this happen to me so many times that i decided to intervene. It was VERy difficult because you need mush from the bird store and a tiny tiny feeding implement. However, after i fed it for 2 days I put it back in the nest and contrary to what people say, birds take back their young and are fine! I am glad you found it in the bottom of the cage!! Check in the nest or sit in the room and watch what the mom is doing.
