No frivolity with editing the videos..though I really should cos of my shaky hand and other parts where I had to correct myself. No matter. It shall be editted next week!

AK wanted me to do this. This idea had been running around in my head for weeks since I started vlogging but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to teach well. So if there're any questions comment or talk to me ^_^

Just to recap:
a: pronounced as 'ah'
e: pronounced as 'er' or 'eh' (without prounouncing that 'r' !!) or 'a'
i: pronounced as 'ee'
o: pronounced as 'uo'
u: pronounced as 'oo'

First pronounciation: voice is constant throughout the word
Second pronounciation: voice goes up at the end (as if asking a question)
Third pronounciation: voice dips down and up again
Fourth pronounciation: voice is a teeny bit more forceful and goes down slightly at the end.

If you have mastered all that, congrats! You can now read han yu pin yin! It may not mean a thing to you but it'll make sense later.

  • hey, stop referring Putonghua/Mandarin as HAN YU, you Communist type!!!

Putonghua/Mandarin is not invented by the HAN race but the foreign invaders of China in the past (Hun, Manchus, Mongols). Go study the TRUE Chinese history (not the one filtered by the Communist government) and never say Putonghua is HAN YU again!!!

  • hi,i'm from pakistan. I just came across your videos, its great help.

    long live pakistan china friendship,

  • omg for me it sounds all the same. :/

    but it's nice. :)

  • e can be written like uh

  • thank you for uploading this video :) at about 1 minute, you can spell the sound for 'e' as "eh". Sort of like someone making the sound and saying, "Ehh... I don't know." Hope this helps everyone else! :) xie xie
