How to label your digital genealogy images so you & others can easily identify them later. There are plenty of free good programs out there, you will just need one that you can change the canvas size & add text. For this I will use GIMP http://gimp.org/ , a good free program.

  • how do u make the canvas fit the image if u cropped and rotated the image(excuse the spelling)

  • @TheReLLiK423You can send me a private message & I can make a video or can go into more detail. If I understand you correctly, in GIMP you edit your picture then click "Image" at the top > "Canvas Size" > Click the chain to unlink the chain so you make changes in one direction > Add more space than you need & click "resize" > add your text > when done click the "knife" in the "toolbox" & crop just what you want.

  • Another great video. I had hated Gimp until I saw genealogyscrounge use it for exactly what I could never get it to do! I think it is so important to see someone who is using it for very specific genealogy archiving needs. Albeit basic principles, but just what I needed. Thanks

  • @genealogyscrounge thank you for the help
