I've actually been exposed to a lot of his material, that's why I think he's kinda cool.
And yes, you are right. The REAL authorities on space are too busy doing real science to even think about being on tv. While Mr. Tyson may be an astrophysicist, from what I gather I think he actually works at a museum. So no, he's not the guy to go to for your MAJOR astronomical stuff.
And I am in this subject matter. I'm an astrophysics major.
