This video proves that Calvinists do admit that John Calvin was a murderer, for those who doubt that he was.

If you are religiously following "pastors" such as John Piper, Mark Driscoll, Paul Washer or James White who continue to propagate this doctrine of Calvinism, I would recommend you reconsider or at least go to the word of God (http://bible.cc/genesis/1-1.htm) and compare it with John Calvin's "Institutes Of the Christian Religion" (http://www.ccel.org/ccel/calvin/institutes.toc.html) to see if God wants you to be a Calvinist.

It is a dangerous idea to rely on "commentaries" ON the Bible. If the Bible isn't clear enough as it is, why are we Christians in the first place?

I can't imagine a more dreary life than constantly trying to convince people that Christ died for a very small number of people and the majority are going to hell.

John Calvin taught in his institutes that certain people are "doomed from the womb." He taught that people are either born into the world damned or eternally saved and there is nothing they can do about it. It's God's choice. He also taught that God is the cause of all evil and all good in the world since everyone's actions are programmed by him. Read his Institutes carefully if you don't believe me. He really believed mankind has no free will at all.

On top of his heresies, he was a heartless murderer. He boasted of his torture of Michael Servetus and had a heart of a reprobate. The God of Calvinism is a twisted monster. I see John Calvin in Calvin-ism more than Christ.

Why do Calvinists "assume" God elected them in the first place? No true Calvinist could even claim such a thing, yet they gather and 'worship' this monster of a God and call him "just" when "just" is the last thing he is. He is a respecter of persons who put certain people on his "reprobate" list from eternity past and relegated to have them tortured for eternity for sins he programmed them to commit in the first place. I know that kind of God really makes me want to put gasoline in my car and go to church to worship him every weekend.

The actual quote in John Calvin's Institutes is:

"Since the arrangement of all things is in the hand of God, since to Him belongs the disposal of life and death, He arranges all things by His sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death, and are to glorify Him by their destruction."

You can find it mid-way down the page here: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/calvin/institutes.v.xxiv.html

You can read the whole book online there.

Here's more of his quotes:

Do Calvinists teach the doctrines of MEN? Of course they do. You won't find John Calvin's name or his Institutes in the word of God! Calvinism is a cult!
http://bible.cc/matthew/15-9.htm

The fact that anyone would espouse Calvinism even after reading about what an insane man John Calvin was, is beyond me. Did God mention anywhere in the Bible that you should BURN people at the stake for questioning the trinity? Is that really a salvation issue?

You will know FALSE PROPHETS by their FRUITS. John Calvin had an ego problem and his little cult followers have the same problem. I know it makes Calvinists feel special to gather together and believe they were "elected" by God and that they are special, but this is no different than the Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons.

Paul admonished people to stop saying they followed men rather than Christ. Paul would be disgusted with Calvinism as well.

He would say something like this-
"What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow JOSEPH SMITH"; another, "I follow THE POPE"; another, "I follow JOHN CALVIN"; still another, "I follow Christ. Is Christ divided? Was JOHN CALVIN crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of THE POPE?

  • I thought Calvin executed Micheal Servetus for not agreeing with Calvin on water baptism that Micheal was for adult water baptism and Calvin was for infant baptism so as a result Calvin had him killed. Didn't know it was over the trinity. Oh well it was still wrong for Calvin to do that.

  • @yankobutt It was over the trinity and infant baptism, both not reasons to warrant murder...

  • Wonder if a pastor involved in an event such as this would receive an ounce of pampering like Calvin did? Answer: NO

  • @TheChristcrucified You're right. There would be a national uproar if a pastor did what John Calvin did. So, why do people defend John Calvin and make him a hero?

  • @5355vbxjbj76rvn And the basis of Calvin's theology is independent of scripture. In his Institutes he continuously cites Augustine an acknowledged Neoplatonist for support of his doctrine. Augustine's election is a rehash of Plato and Aristotle's pagan ideas of the monad (pagan god) as the 1st cause who alone is determinateness and controls all actions of lesser beings who are indeterminate. Fatalism defined.

  • Hey. God, before all creation, chose Calvin to slowly roast Servetus to death in one of the cruelest ways a man can be killed. Calvin had no choice. God is Sovereign. Move along. Move along.

  • The validity of Calvin's theology is independent of Calvin's actions. They do not compromise it - they can obscure it. If he is right about (say) the Sovereignty of God, that remains a fact, regardless of anyone's acts, good or bad, including his.

  • @escapingplatoscave Its very sad that happened of course another reformer Martin Luther published a book called On the Jews and Their Lies, in which he stated that rabbis should be forbidden to preach if they did they should be executed so sadly these men were human not saints and needed to repent for their sins they've committed like King David did. God Bless!

  • @jmange What does God use to draw people to him? The gospel...and how can people hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14) And if God be lifted up, he will draw ALL men unto himself (John 12:32)

  • @escapingplatoscave ... I had hoped what I meant was obvious. Jesus taught the doctrine that is today called Calvinism, that God is fully sovereign and no one comes to Him unless elected by Him. That is the point. What is called Calvinism is simply Biblical Christianity, and regardless of what you think of John Calvin himself, we should all submit to the authority of Scripture.

  • @jmange Jesus was the first "Calvinist" That is a ridiculous statement. Jesus didn't write "The Institutes Of The Christian Religion," John Calvin did. Jesus didn't condone the burning of "heretics." You will know false teachers by their fruit. All evil is not ordained by God. God is grieved by sin. Calvinism is heresy.
