I know this sounds silly but I am very interested in starting to pan. I have all of the necessary equipment but just can't find the proper place to go. I live in Tunnel Hill GA and have considered heading to Dahlonega GA to pan. I hear that it is covered in gold. My problem is where to go once I get there. I imagine it wouldn't be smart to just run around from random creek to random creek. I'll be heading out tomorrow. If you feel comfortable could you private message me a few suggestions

You are welcome...
This is just one cleanup from the one rn at that time...I get a cleanup every 2 hrs of running....

Greetings,
Tunnel Hill, GA, isn't too far from Lake Allatoona. Check out The Allatoona Gold Panners Club. Rob takes groups out many weekends and help new prospectors pan, learn to find gold.

No, Dahlonega is not covered in gold. Most gold was hard rock mined deep under ground. Access to areas to pan are harder to find than you'd think. Hope this helps. Randy

Greetings,
Well, I did have a authentic Keene Green Bowl, but still found it very slow and methodical to use. I sold it to a buddy and have a Angus MacKirk micro sluice.
It's awesome! Way faster, better.
