@mweverett Well all the fuses seem to be alright, so I don't think that's the problem

Hi, I have a 1990 jeep grand wagoneer and I cant get the tailgate window to go down by using the key or the switch on the dashboard. I'm assuming it would be easier to replace the motor by lowering the tailgate but how can I do that with the window stuck?
If you can give some advice it would be much appreciated, I don't know a lot about repairing vehicles but I love my jeep and eventually want to get everything working, starting with the tailgate/window.
Thanks, Heith.

@heith18 First off if you cant get the window to move from the dash or key switches then you have to make sure the circuit is getting power. Check the fuse that feeds the tailgate. I have the schematic somewhere if I can find it I will post it somewhere you can get it.

Do not attempt to open the gate unless the window is all the way down. There is an interlock. I assume you have a later wagoner. The window is controlled by a dash switch and the key switch in the tail gate. If the dash switch works then the issue is the switch in the tailgate. They corrode and will need taking out and cleaning. There is also a interlock that shuts off the window motor when the gate is open (little finger on the left end of the gate) Ask Q and I will try to help.
