It's called Auto Sock, and it is touted as a replacement for chains on tires. 7NEWS Traffic Reporter Jason Luber explains.

Imagine if that got wrapped around your axle. Good times getting that un-done. I think I will stick with chains on top of studded tires.

Nice, they don't chew up the pavement. And drivers will be safer because they won't be spending so much time outside of the truck.

@tickle2012 No, while he was putting them on. The chains they use for the big trucks are quite heavy, especially and tiring if your an ageing or over wait trucker.
