I love old B/W movies! I've never seen this one. Will have to keep an eye out for it. Thanks for this video, I love it! She had an amazing voice!
God bless!

As others noted, this is "The Holy City", and not "Jerusalem."

Every time I hear that little boy sing, chills run up and down my spine. How beautifully and "soulfully" sung.

@KarensFaith she( Jeanette) does have an amazing voice. This movie, San Francisco, is one of my favorites - a must.
She also made many movies with Nelson Eddy - worth seeing!

can we get more songs from Miss MacDonalds movies.

This is one of my favorite hymns! So full of hope and zeal, the expression of the boy soprano is priceless. So solemn as he sings...

@glawsny G, I didn't know she had a radio program! Wow. Do you have any of those programs that I could listen to? I don't know much about NE and JM's history except that she got tired of playing in movies with him. I don't know if that's fact. I "heard" that she wanted an new leading man and asked Clark Gable to act in this movie with her. If any of you know of books, articles, etc. about them that is fact, I'd like to know. They were my father's favorite duo.

This is so sad this movie. All of us in New Zealand realise just how much the poor people of San Francisco suffered in this horrible disaster.
any chance of uploading Jeanette and Jane Powell in Our Darling Daughters?
Their sining of " Springtide" is so awesome
Thanks for this too!

This is actually The St.Luke's boy choir. Several of the boys up front are really actors from the Hal Roach studio on the MGM lot added in.The St Luke choir boys were guests on Jeanette MacDonald's radio show a year and a half later, October 1937,and with her they repeated this lovely number.

Fantastic. Though actually the song is called The Holy City. The song Jerusalem is the one that starts "And did these feet in ancient times" and ends with "Till we build a new Jerusalem, in England's green and pleasent lands"

Thanks robauz, you are correct about the name,
but "Jerusalem" is the only city on earth that is holy, and the only city in the Scriptures declared by the Creator to be holy, and the only place He chose to put His Name there.
