It's a rare occasion to get more knife than you've paid for. But you will with a Glock knife. A descendant of a knife-sized bayonet, the Glock knifes inherit the narrow blade profile that was primarily designed for the thrust attack. However it is also effective for camp shores, digging, opening things, food preparation, and wood splitting. The spring steel blade does need to be re-profiled to bring out a sharp edge though. Once that's done, the Glock knives are excellent field companions. The upside to that narrow blade and the strong polymer used is its amazingly svelte 9.0 oz total weight. That makes it a good choice for backpacking trips. This 6.5" spring steel blade holds an edge adequately, is tough, and easy to sharpen. The downside to the narrow blade with its long straight edge (low mass) is that it does not chop well. You can't have it all at this weight.
The sheath is superb: light, tough, locks into belt well with a great QD belt clip, and the retention clip is VERY secure (but usually needs two hands to extract). At a price of $25 to $30 these Glock knives offer incredible utility, performance, and quality. It 's a reliable field companion, great collector knife, or car trunk survival knife.

  • I have one these knives I got it for 24 dollars from ctd. Nice review

  • CDNN Is having a sale on these knives I think around 22 dollars

  • @hutningnola I'll be sure to check it out. I have a friend who took it on a week long backpacking trip and he said there was a pretty good buildup of rust on the cutting edge, but I'm not sure how well he maintains his blades.

If it's good enough for a soldier, I'm sure it'll be good enough for me. I'm definitely going to be picking one of these guys up, as you said, the price is amazing for what you get.

  • @NickSparkss Rust?? Thats the least of your worries.. If you are looking for a porche of a knife your on the wrong Review. These knives are Plain, tough as nails get the job done without breaking and have seen combat all around the world.. My step Bro has one in currently in use in Helmand Provience, Afghanistan and loves it. 25.00 dollars can't beat the price. Check out the torture test video's it hang's with the best.

  • I may pick one of these up for a camping trip later this year... It's definitely a good price, but I'd be concerned about the rusting that seems to be an issue with these guys. Although I could just as easily oil it, so I suppose the poing is moot.

  • This is the story of a man who loves his gun and has misplaced affection for his lesser known knife.

  • ..you almost have to get it out one-handed because it´s on our old KAMPFANZUG 75 (BDU whatever..) it was strapped to your left shoulder so you just had to grab it..and stiffen your index finger to slide it between the lock and knive..tadaa! If its not on your shoulder but in your hand just slide your index finger between lock and knive and the sheath should fly away. I hope you understand what i want to tell you because my english is far from beeing perfect..

  • ..i wanna see you choping wood with it while having the upper edge sharpened. It´s not a full-tang design as i have seen on x-ray pics and no i have never seen somebody breaking this knive. It is however very, very (!) sensible to moisture and has to be oiled all the time if you want to avoid rust (you have to see mine, not nice). The black finshing will go off very soon and when "naked" rust will replace it if not taken care properly. And btw there are manny ways to open it one-handed..

  • Hi, nutn!

Because i served in the austrian army i had the "privilege" or curse to get one of these screwdrivers as we call them and i think in the whole army history this knive almost never has been used for cutting things but only for digging, opening windows, doors cans and boxes..and stuff and the fact that it gets handed out to millions of "kids" in the army brings me to the conclusion to not sharpen it comming out of stock. Your´s however is almost complete, cheap tac-dagger and..
