"Come And Get Your Love" is the title of a 1974 hit single by Redbone, a Native American rock group that was most active in the 1970s. Formed in 1969 in Los Angeles, California, by brothers Patrick Vasquez (bass and vocals) and Lolly Vasquez (guitar and vocals), the name Redbone itself is a joking reference to a Cajun term for a mixed-race person ('half-breed'), the band's members being of mixed-blood ancestry. The band referenced Cajun and New Orleans culture many times in their lyrics and performing style. Pat and Lolly had previously performed and recorded under the stage surname Vegas, in part to downplay the Latin American association of their birth surname, Vasquez. According to Patrick Vasquez, it was Jimi Hendrix who talked the musicians into forming an all-Native American rock group and so they signed as the band Redbone to Epic Records in 1969. Redbone played primarily rock music with R&B, Cajun, jazz, tribal, and Latin roots. The song "Come And Get Your Love" was written by Lolly and produced by Lolly and his brother Pat. It was originally featured on Redbone's album "Wovoka". In later years the song appeared on many greatest hits albums released by the band, as well as on numerous compilation albums of the 70s. The song peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April of 1974, and it spent 18 weeks in the Top 40. This channel is dedicated to the classic rock hits that have become part of the history of our culture. The incredible AOR tracks that define music from the late 60s, the 70s and the early 80s . . .
