UPDATE: Here's the Q&A interview with my wife and what she thought of this netbook:
http://tinyurl.com/de9v7x

This is my review of the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition netbook. It runs Windows XP SP3, and in the configuration I was sent, costs $724 USD directly from HP. It has an Intel 1.6 Ghz Atom CPU, 1 GB of RAM, a 60 GB 4200 RPM hard drive, an SDHC card reader, two USB ports, 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 3-cell battery.

Watch for the follow-up Q&A review with the person who has used this most...my wife!

  • Why should there be a USB adapter for the wireless mouse? There's something called bluetooth which can be built in to the laptop and will eliminate the dongle and therefore eliminate the chance of having a piece lost. D'OH HP!

And the other issue is when you look at the keys of the keyboard, you can tell they are NOT well spaced out! D'OH again, HP!

  • @kliikd Bluetooth is quite power hungry compared to RF-based products. Just ask any owner of a Mac wireless keyboard or Magic Mouse. I have both, and the keyboard especially seems to gobble batteries.

  • Why aren't flowers for men?

  • @kliikd Oh, they can be, but not for this man. :-)

  • hi / i was curious if u knew how to install the recovery discs for my mini 1000 with windows xp / mine crashed and the mini does not recognize the disks ... / hope u can help / great vids by the way / thanks...

  • @zerohp I've never had to do that, so I'm not sure...if you have an external CD/DVD drive, right? And it's not recognizing the discs? That either means you have bad discs or a bad CD/DVD drive...could be either one.
