Fact-based WW 2 story about the Royal Navy's legendary hunt for the German battleship Bismarck in 1941. Kenneth More, Dana Wynter, Carl Mohner and Ernest Clark head the cast in this one.
@steeeeevve Johnny horton had a premonition he would die in a car crash he said if i see a car coming at me i will just pull off the road he was killed in a head on collision on a bridge
What appalling music! When you think The Dambusters theme was written 5 years before this is an absolute disgrace. It is totally unsuited to a film showing the deaths of 1000s of men. As the man said, the battle did not involve Americans so why the awful twang. Hard to match Coates I guess, but really .......
@spacepatrolman The music in the film is not by Mr Horton.

Oh, that's part of a line from Johnny Horton's song "Sink the Bismarck!"
The full line is
"We'll find that German Battleship that's making such a fuss,
we gotta sink the Bismarck cause the World Depends on us"

The good ol`director Lewis Gilbert, that directed several 007-films..

I wonder why they are singing that little song with an American accent when the whole matter was between the British and the Germans:.
