Story of miracle SBS survivor Daniella

Daniella was just 5 weeks old when her father violently shake her multiple times, but Daniella is one of the very few children who make thru it all and now in age 18 months she is no longer late in her development, but we still can't be so sure about future..

Shaken baby syndrome is a type of inflicted traumatic brain injury that happens when a baby is violently shaken. A baby has weak neck muscles and a large, heavy head. Shaking makes the fragile brain bounce back and forth inside the skull and causes bruising, swelling, and bleeding, which can lead to permanent, severe brain damage or death. The characteristic injuries of shaken baby syndrome are subdural hemorrhages (bleeding in the brain), retinal hemorrhages (bleeding in the retina), damage to the spinal cord and neck, and fractures of the ribs and bones. These injuries may not be immediately noticeable. Symptoms of shaken baby syndrome include extreme irritability, lethargy, poor feeding, breathing problems, convulsions, vomiting, and pale or bluish skin. Shaken baby injuries usually occur in children younger than 2 years old, but may be seen in children up to the age of 5.

@thegirlydancer10 The father didnt got jailed. :( And he still gets to see Daniella with some social workers with them.

@TerachiShinya Why did he get off entirely? Child abuse is a crime and it would seem the DA would charge him with injury to a child. The broken ribs were likely caused by being held tightly and CPR can break ribs.

SBS reported to CPS and the parents lost custody of their tiny, preemie baby, who do not have a bruise on her body. She continues to live normal. sbsdefense(dot)org has superb information and factual data to correctly identify SBS.

I hope she keeps getting better with time. :)

How many child abuser are never charged, how many child killers gets to hear the words "not guilty". I dont even wanna know. This world aint fear for our little once. :(

But I shall ask her mother what happened, why the father wasent charged.

THIS GIVES ME HOPE!!! my baby is slow on her developement......my newborn has been in the hospital since Nov 1 2011 with SEVERE brain trauma--broken ribs and legs--BABYSITTER ISNT TALKING TO ..HPD.. which led to the removal of my 2 other kids..i will have a long fight to get my 2 oldest back..MY MAIN FOCUS WILL BE ON CONSTANTLY PRAYING FOR MY NEWBORN that is still in the hospital...today is Jan. 8th 2012...THANKS FOR THE STRENGTH...i am sooo mentally drained..im sooooo tired of crying.

@TerachiShinya Kim Stevens was charged with shaking a baby she was babysitting. The DA dropped charges and a couple of years later, she killed two-year-old Jorden Grace; blunt force trauma to the head, stomping Jorden's stomach caused a perforated gut, and quick death.

The mother of the baby Stevens shook, picketed the courthouse in Gainesville TX w- Jorden's Mommy, until Stevens was arrested and tried. Stevens got LWOP.

The DA said Stevens was the worst serial child abuser she had known.
