Moose Jaw Multiplex - 4 years later and $52 million short

Schwinghamer says Moose Jaw is the laughing stock of Canada over the multiplex issue. Yet at this meeting they are handed a 4200 signature petition against the multiplex and they ignore it and plow on with rezoning land they don't even own in the area they want this building.

What makes Moose Jaw the laughing stock of Canada? Why, this council of course. They couldn't get this project done even if someone else did it for them.

I am also not against the Multiplex, but why purchsae land when it could be built where the Civic Center is know.

The city already owns that land.

I'm totally in favour of the Multiplex and doing a great job on it.  No cutting corners - build an excellent facility. What I don't want is for the Multiplex to be downtown. It's ludicrous to put it down there. The problem is that the people who own that downtown land contributed to the Mayor's campaign and it's put the council in an untenable position.
