Shane MacGowan sings 'Fairytale of New York' with his mother Theresa, with backing from The Popes. From The Late Late Show (1987) on RTE 1, Ireland. Sorry about the crap quality, but I nabbed this from http://www.netsoc.ucd.ie/~justy/ years ago. Sound quality is alright though (I hope). Could anyone else get away with callin their lovely Irish mammy "an old slut on junk"? I think not...

@Brethitmanhart1 as much as i love shane mcgowan i will have to state something i was told is that christy moore actually wrote this and gave it to the pogues.... dont know how true this is so im not saying its a fact sorry if im wrong

Sorry to correct ya, but this December 2000 I believe - cause I remember giving shane that green tie at the preceeding gig in the olympia - when the popes were a great band to see !
