He was from Baltimore, My beloved Aunt Dora Mestesky Ackerman dated his brother who owned a drug store; he was a pharmacist in Washington, D.C.. She was much younger so she never met the great Al Jolson.
Coming from a religious family, Olson defied his parents by not becoming a Cantor. From the movie, it looks like they were proud of his accomplishments. Who knows for everything is how it is perceived

1世紀前の歌声だ、"スワニー"のアル・ジョルソン・アヴァロ
ン・この叙情曲はこの世紀のエンタテナーしかないのか・もっとも なぜあまり歌わないのか? #jazzm -
@Mikee1da I agree, I can't hear much similarity either.

Another great cover of this song :)
Al Jolson had to pay for copyright infringement to the publisher of Puccini's Tosca opera (the aria was " E lucevan le stelle")

Such a beautiful song!... sung by the greatest entertainer... I always heard this song before Boardwalk Empire made it popular again...and I am so glad they played it..especially when Nucky was looking through the window peering at the fortune teller...Masterpiece.
