  • You want a half assed job, call the union. You want someone that works at half speed, call the union. You want a great job at a fair price, call a non union worker, support the right to work.

  • @nktank84 unions are worthless. non union members do the same work without the union thuggery & asshole mentality. union members aren't the only ones allowed to work, yet go to any picket line & that's the attitude. 'decent wage and benefits'? union wage & benefits far exceed what comparable non union workers make. unions are monopolies that protect seniority, not the most productive workers. ever heard of a performance based system? get a real job & education.

  • A Master's Degree in Education doesn't impress me because Education is one of the laziest majors next to Journalism, Women's Studies, 14th Century French Poetry, etc. The people in those majors have very little academic rigor and I doubt if most of them have the problem solving skills to get out of a paper bag. I think we should change the requirement for teachers to go back to school while teaching to say if you teach math or a science, that you should be required to get a BS in Engineering.

  • @TheImpeacher I worked a shutdown in St. Marys KS 4 years ago on a power plant. They had non union building their first baghouse, they missed the deadline by a month and cost the customer millions. As I type we have Union boilermakers building their second baghouse. Out in Holcomb KS we've been back in that plant for 10 years because non union got pissed off at their contractor and sabotaged the powerplant. Non union is cheaper, but sometimes ya get what ya pay for.........

  • @mizsoutiger IT MIGHT SURPRISE YOU TO LEARN THAT NOT EVERYBODY IS SO EXCITED ABOUT BEING A COMPANY SLAVE. I like having my summers off, I like having a say in when and where I go to work without giving up my benefits and pension. I like the fact that I don't have work at the same job for the same asshole boss just to keep my retirement like you have to. My job has alot of downsides, but the freedom I got is pretty rare these days, and damn hard to give up.

  • @mizsoutiger Ya know what I think? I think you're funny as hell.I think you're dreaming up theories about an industry that you haven't even the slightest idea of its inner workings. Oh great one, please tell me another way that men who keep the power plants of this country running can get good benefits and pension. We travel the country working long hours during short outages, and we're often layed off during the summer.

  • @nktank84 I think this represents the monopoly created by laborunions. They've made it impossible for u to obtain jobs orwork a business of ur own. Rather, they've created an environment where only those represented by them can get any kind of benefits or high wagesfor doing work. Laborunions don't stand for the little man; they stand for lobbyists&huge corporations. Laborunions need 2b put out ofbusiness so thatevery1 can function on their own&receive fair compensation for their work.

  • ALL labor unions are filled with thugs and self-appointed leaders no different than mafia dons and their henchmen. Labor unions need to be categorized as organized crime and every union leader prosecuted under the RICO act. Those convicted can serve a minimum 10 year prison sentence.

  • @mizsoutiger What? Did you think I was an auto worker who screws in a bolt on a car for a living? Not every Union employee works in a factory. The only way for many construction works to get benefits/pension is to work union. We're not fat and lazy, we just want benefits and a pension. We're not unskilled violent thugs, we just want decent benefits for the job we do.

  • I've got a dilemma here. Do I vote the video down because some idiot shoved a camera in this guys face or do I vote it up because the guy shoved the camera out of his face. As for crying "assault" c'mon. You've just video taped yourselves provoking the guy. I'd call that incitement and extreme provocation. The guy with the beard is right. You're not very intelligent and you've just proved it on camera.

  • @mizsoutiger As a Union Boilermaker I also had the benefit of going through an apprenticeship that involed on the job training plus extensive training off the job at my union hall's 5 million dollar training center. I have access to work reports of futture jobs, I can get welding certs for dozens of contractors with 1 test at my hall instead of testing for each job.

  • @mizsoutiger The jobs in my line of work tend to be less than 3 months. Due to the nature of the work it's hard to stay with one company for long enough to get health insurance, let alone build a pension. On the other hand by being union I can work for hundreds of different contractors across the country with the same benefits as they are based on hourly payout to my insurance and pension funds within the Union. This gives me much freedom by not being tied to one company.
