@Milesy1818 Btw, I have heard very good things about planning courses at Newcastle and Dundee!! Urban Design and Marine Planning professions are ever expanding so it worth looking at them too. All can be done as Masters.. Hope that helps..

@Milesy1818 if you want to do geography go for it. After you graduate you can pick up a one year master in Planning. Some universities offer joint geography and planning courses which will give you the best of both worlds. In terms of earning. I started as a graduate,4 years ago at £18,000 with that increasing quickly once you obtain your MRTPI. After about 4 years your looking at around £28000. Look up the Royal Town Planning Institute,loads of info there plus jobs2 give you idea of earnings

@grantcrow Hi, I am in my final year of 6th form, I do Geography, PE and RE a levels.. and want to do a Geography Degree. Just wondering after my degree in Geography, what would I need to do to become a town planner and how much do you earn annually for people that have just joined.. and how much does it increase.. and also is it hard to become a Town Planner in London?? Thankyou.

I've been a town planner for 10 years and I'll give you all some advice - Leave the profession immediately !! If you want any sort of life at all that is. As a planner you are the "meat in the sandwich", the "Developer's punching bag". The departments work you hard, its all about TIMELINESS and MONEY .... they don't care as long as you "pump em' out quick". Then you have the general public who despise you and are untrustworthy and then you have added pressure from bosses to meet TIME targets.
