Treadmill Paul says: Dogs walking on treadmills is a perfect way for them to burn off excess energy on bad weather days, and for owners with walking disabilities.

  • We already know that he has a thyroid problem which he can over heat and get irritable he is not over weight. He is big if you see him in person you would see that right away. Thanks for the advice. There is no extra fat on him. When he wants to go into action it would scare you to see how fast he is.

    Thanks for the concern.

  • That dog is so over weight how can you not see that? My Rottie was only 120lbs. A mastiff would weigh 150lbs or so...a Rottie should not

  • how long will he go for?

  • Congrats on getting that dog exercising! A dog that overweight need it. And yes, unfortunately, he is quite over weight. You can see the fat rolling back and forth with each step and there is no hint of a rib on him. With the exercise you are giving him now, and a good diet, his hips and elbows will be quite happy 20 ponds lighter. Think about having those checked before you run him too much though...

  • You are walking your Rottie WAY too long, he is extremely overweight, borderline obese, I can't beleive the idiot keeps saying "He's Lazy", Damn, your dog might have "Hypothyroidism" like my dog did. You need to have the vet check for this, it's VERY,VERY common in Rottweilers. If that proves the case all the treadmill walking/trotting/running is not going to help. You'll end up letting the idiot who's talking KILL YOUR DOG.. Cuss me if you want, swallow your pride have him CHECKED

  • your poor Rottie is WAY over weight like the one I just had put down, he has hypothyroidism, and let him with little energy to exercise, but thats not the reason I had him put down, he also had osteoscarcoma. He weighed 165 Lbs. Watch your dogs heart rate, with him being so over weight theres a chance your dog can have a heart attack, Why do you keep saying he's lazy, ever occur to you that your dog might have the same as mine did( hypothyroidism) don't assume lazy, have vet check.

  • you can't prevent a adult dog from getting hip displasia you can only limit it as a pup as it is an hiredtory problem NOT an execise problem and i think in my oppinion you need to reduce the time you have gim on the treadmill as his posture is very low and looks as if he is struggling, does not look as he is enjoying it as the tail should be up as so should the head be, i bet if the lead was of then the dog would be as well,

  • my dog was 54 (and fat) but i tought him how to run beside me on the bike now he is 48kg and all muscle

  • LOL, awesome.

Btw, your dog weighs as much as me!
