You make a good point. I love Vegas myself, but I think it's really sad that so few of the original buildings remain.
The Sahara closed last time I visited, perfectly good resort but just a eerie statue now. That whole end of the strip is pretty much dead these days

Those fucking butchers. Nobody cares about history any more. All the hotels look the same now and so do the people who work in them.

can someone tell me why the stardust closed?
-
The decision the hault the construction was based on the additional investors ability to mantain their collateral pledged towards the investment, which was at risk of being in default based on the sudden economic impact of the financial market.

Boyd Gaming's share holders and their investors came to a mutual agreement to hault construction. As a result of this decision, all of the parties invlolved saw a spike in their company's stocks. This is how you conduct business.

goodbye stardust, the tears in your eyes before you closed is still fresh in my mind, why do i have to believe that your gone?,i dont want to believe it ;(,goodbye stardust,i missed you so much,i wish you will come back forever,
I drive a taxi here in Vegas. Stardust's sports book was where I watched games on sundays. No one cares about the history of Vegas. It's dead. No one cares about the headliners that made this city famous. It's just a bunch of 20 somethings getting to efed up at the pools and mega clubs and throwing up in my cab. Vegas sucks now. There is no chic here like the 50s 60s or 70s. The Cosmopliton? Give me a break. It's as popular now as Come On Eileen in the 80s. Here today, imploded tomorrow.
