  • hmmm, now i know why worship songs have become cheesy pop love songs...

  • its true another thing about worship these days is that it's kinda fruity.. like fruity as in,.. it sounds like a poem a guy would make up for a girl so that he could take advantage of her fruity.. It's hard to worship when its not honest,..

  • @paraisoat but surely you can see the wisdom of this in worship. worship is a tangible means that we begin to imagine, embrace and live in the kingdom reality of God's overcoming love. whats more - why do the psalms follow this pattern? that is, however dark they get (and they get DARK!) they profoundly affirm god's salvation and sufficiency, even abundance. remember the topic is worship! grace & peace

  • I would retract your statement of suffering being a minor theme. It is not only major but essential to following Jesus.

    Luke 9:23

And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his CROSS DAILY, and follow me.

    Matthew 10:38

And he that taketh not up his CROSS, and followeth me, is NOT WORTHY of me.

  • How on earth is the CROSS... the Cruifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ... THE SOLE REASON HE CAME FOR US...The way HE SO LOVED US.... a MINOR theme? What purpose does it serve God to downplay His suffering for us? His LOVE for us. He could have snapped His fingers and accomplished our salvation and satisfy our sins, but it did not satisfy LOVE! His Suffering is LOVE fo us...laying down ones life for a friend... that is the GREATEST of all! The greatest of FAITH HOPE AND LOVE is LOVE!

  • yes, I have to agree with this. it has become somewhat 'stylish' to concentrate to much on how were faithful even though its so tough etc, like

I will praise you in this storm, though my heart is broken" and things like that, not that that shouldnt exist at all because we do go thru storms but we must keep the theme centered on Jesus Christ and thus there is joy & hope.

  • Ah yes, suffering is the minor theme. God's glory, grace, and goodness is the major theme. Don't forget it.
