if i listened to this music before every game i ever played im pretty sure i would go out on the ice and hug the other team rather than demolishing them into the boards like it was a personal mission

ya now i been wanting to learn how to backwards crossover for a while. all i needed was to see someone doing it properly and clearly, this video is perfect. not someone telling me clumsy instructions that dont make sense. just a clear video in slow motion of someone doing it. perfect.. thanks. now i know where my feet should be.. all i got to do now is pad up, and practice.

@steve9332 "just showing" is since ever one of the most effective ways of teaching

real instruction: by hockeybasics -- hockey defense: backwards crossovers using edges. It's 70s ice hockey instruction (poor image quality but perfectly understandable) that will _teach_ you backwards crossover move with a very simple 1-2-3 drill. Technique is very similar for inline. The teacher is a bit corny but it's the video you're looking for if you want to learn backwards x-over IMO.

this is nice and all but i dont want my butt sticking out like that :)

I don't like the way it is in an other language

forward, forward crossover, stop, an backward no problem for me...

The demo is difficult to start with.
Find a straight path and just skate backward. every 2, 3 steps you make take one of your legs on top of the other and slide to the side of the leg on the ground.
Do not forget at any time to bend your knees. The more you bend and push the crossing over leg, the faster you will go and you will have more balance.

00:50 - bend your knees like you wish to sit.
01:05 - Move opposite hand and leg for stability and speed.
01:43 - Cross the external leg over the internal leg.
01:57 - Make sure all wheels are leaving the surface while you are doing the crossover.
Practice and have fun, it worths it.
