A mockingbird calls for mates

A male mockingbird calls out for mates.

Recorded this on June 14, 2008 in Grosvenor Park, North Bethesda, MD, USA. This little fellow sang in that tree for a few weeks during that time, exposing himself to great danger from hawks and other predatory birds. He was quite insistent, and loud. I do hope he found a mate.

thanks for the vid im attempting to attract some mockingbirds of my own. i wonder if the south texas birds will respond to my speakers blaring out my window.?.?.? ive tricked roosters before so why not.

Is it a Mockingbird? I certainly sounds like one, and I Googled for Northern Mockingbirds and it looks like one. I am in Georgia USA. If it is a regular resident in your neighborhood, you can do some whistling and it will pick it up. I used to visit a Parrot in local shopping center and would do the "wolf call" whistle. After a couple of weeks the local Mockingbird had that whistle in it's repretoire! Pretty neat!
