@asianrapper209 I would also say It's a more active phase (I jumped 46'2 my junior season) but the key is to remember to cycle your leg to set up for your second phase well. Make sure you dont get too much height or you'll collapse and lose a lot of distance on your second.

@03Ranger4x2 I really appreciate the reply, man. It sure was a blur at first, but things are clearing up about how to jump!

@03Ranger4x2 thanks for the kind words. i jumped a 43 8 at regionals wednesday. i placed 4th. i guess i held my own against the competition. There was only like one more sophmore.

Great jump, man. I just finished my first year of jumping, and I sorta feel cheated outta what could've been. Technique was just something never taught at my school's Track and Field program. Well, my question is: Is the hop phase an active jump or do you just ride on the speed built from the approach?

@asianrapper209
Hey I feel your pain. I basically had to teach myself everything as well. I would say yes it is active. But don't jump up really at all. Think out when you are on the approach. You want a little height to ride the momentum, but you want to rip your foot on the hop to propel you forward. Everything about the triple jump has to be active and explosive. Use your arms, drive your knees, train hard, plyos. You will get there.
