The opening and intro to the first season of the excellent HBO show "The Wire", in which Detective McNulty learns about how America works.


When I uploaded the Season 2 intro over a year ago, I think it was one of about five videos that were on YouTube about The Wire. I'm happy to see all the recognition it's gotten since then!

what's good about this show:

the characters: there are 20+ faultless characters (acting, script all!) never any other show did this

no angelism (bad character or good character, they're all good and bad)

and this is not a cop show, it's a show about the impossibility of reform in most organisations!

this show is a book with it's length, it's a 5 seasons long movie!

i've seen BB, Sopranos, game of thrones 24, you name it! the wire tops all of them!

Jokes apart....Sopranos & BB are cool....my opinion....on the top 3 podium there are SoA, Boardwalk Empire and The Wire.

I have been watchin The Corner too from the same author, same city and some same actors too...that's real shit too.

I've watched BB, Oz, Sopranos and The Wire. I know that The Wire is better than all of them, some BB fans are disagree with that but we all have got to admit that The Wire had the best character developments: i'm talking about mostly the every single minor character's developments and The Wire is probably the most realistic or possible, and it's the best critism of the system, USA and morals ...

Love the wire one of the best shows HBO has made.some of the characters are extra, has to be for good TV just like every other show

What captivated me was that I've been in the game from state to state in the 80's before the police even knew what was going on,and the wire story line was to true to the the game, I knew it had to be some inside knowledge, no television person could know so much and damn if I wasn't right! watch the series first. I watched through the end of season 2. I like the show and find some of the characters to be interesting, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect on me as it does on most people here.

I grew up in an area of Chicago where drugs were just a part of life and these kinda thugs ran the streets. Nothing about the dealers in this show impress me, in fact... this is a Hollywood version of what really goes on every night. Might seem real to some of you, but the Omar character is a joke.
