First, this is NOT a 'loach' (or more technically correct, an OH-6 'Cayuse'). The OH-6 / Hughes 369 has a 'V-Tail' not the 'T-Tail' seen here (indicative of a Hughes 500D or later variant).
Also, at 13 knots faster than a standard UH-1, I would say the OH-6 could outrun the Huey in straight and level flight, but with the maneuvering being performed, I would also say neither aircraft are performing at peak performance. Definitely agree with the sports car and pickup analogies though.
why were they chasing it?

Thats not a OH-6 , thats a Hughes 500D, and the Hueys are UH-1C(M)s
This is the best part of the movie!!

If you listen to the "Push it to the limit" song from Scarface this song is 50% better.

The Hues 500MD is much faster. Love that chopper. Look for it in Blue Thunder as well, where they attach two 30mm cannon

@Monkmaster1969 They're essentially the same thing, especially considering the fact that loach is just a nickname...

Doesn't he know he can out run the Huey?
Loach, my favorite helicopter, it's like a sports car. Cobras are faster but more like flying a pickup. The Huey is like flying a slow pick up.
