This is a visual illustration of the infrasonic capabilities of a tactile transducer, EarthquakeSound's Q10B vs a big sub, SVS's PB13U. First up is the sub followed by the transducer. I left the best bit to last :-).

The sub is running 3db hot with the amp set at -14db vol, 0 being calibrated to 75db SPL at the listening position. The first clip shows the sub and the second shows the same scene but now with the transducer on.

For further details of my own experiences with the Quake 10B transducer see this thread at AV forums:

  • what you mean faster? ("The Ibeam faster with the higher frequencies")

  • @RussiaTrue

More responsive. More resolution. More powerful at higher frequencies. In short more musical for higher frequencies. I have not experienced the IBeam myself but have checked out what is said about them by those that have. Personally I think transducers are best used below 40hz where sound cannot be heard but can be felt. They take over where subs run out of shaking power.

  • Hello nice demo! But, can you show me a demo with the volume on high? Also, is this used with the quake attached horizontally or vertically? I believe that the Buttkicker LFE is the Mjoilnir of all tactile transducers (so far).

  • @FeeNSanD

Hi, I have no video at higher volume. It was enough as it is. The Quake is always vertical and its internally mounted to the sofa frame. The sofa looks standard.. Re Buttkicker, it possibly has more brute force but the penalty is perhaps less finesse and speed. The Quake is more than capable in my sofa so lack of power is definitely not a problem. I opted for finesse over brute force. However, the Quake is more than capable of wobbling eyeballs if that's your thing.

  • Are you going to drink that?

  • @richandiben

Its pure mountain water but even so beer is tastier

  • nice

I got this movie and big speakers too, awesome sounds in this movie

  • @Deathproof87DK

Sure although I have not experience it myself. I believe the Quake is more powerful at very low frequency stuff, sub 40hz. The Ibeam faster with the higher frequencies. I think both were compared at AVForums by some members. We have a sub section that also caters for tactile sound.

  • very nice, do ya know the ibeam?

i don't know which is better. Ibeam or Quake 10b?
