North Hollywood shootout was an armed confrontation between two heavily-armed and armored bank robbers Larry Eugene Phillips Jr & Emil Dechebal Matasareanu and patrol and SWAT officers of the LAPD on February 28 1997 at a Bank of America teler-office

Two suspects were killed and 15 people were injured, including 10 policemen. None of the injuries incurred during the hour-long shootout was "life threatening,"

Los Angeles Police Chief Willie Williams said.
Although only the suspects were killed,
the sheer number of injuries made this one of the bloodiest single cases of violent crime in the 1990's and one of the most significant single bank robberies of the 20th century

The weapons are on display at the Los Angeles Police Department Museum, along with the car and body Armour.

The rifles are still live firing and were not deactivated by the LAPD, in a glass display case along with the Chinese steel core ammo they used.

They had two Romanian semi-auto AK's that were modified to fully automatic, all they would have needed was a full auto bolt/carrier, drill a hole in the receiver for the auto-sear, remove a small section of the metal rail the bolt rides on, and replace the semi-auto FCG (fire control group) parts with full auto FCG parts.

The other was a semi-auto HK-91 (.308 copy of the HK G3 battle rifle), the HK-91 wasn't modified and was semi-auto. It was damaged when a bullet hit the receiver.

I understand all people are "suspects" before being convicted for a crime, but it just sounds so retarded to call a man who is firing a fully automatic assault rife at police a "suspect", "Hey I have a suspicion that man over there, with a ski mask and a rifle, 100 feet in front of me, is wearing a ski mask and firing a rifle"

They injured countless people and would probably commit another crime that would put the public safety in jeopardy. Letting them go would be the dumbest thing ever. That's something the Mexican police would do. You know why? Because the Mexican police are fucking stupid as shit.
