On Aug. 11, Sgt. Ryan P. Baumann, 24, was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

Earlier in the day, a service was held at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown. Thousands of people lined the streets from Leonardtown to the top of Charles County to honor the fallen hero on his way to his final resting place in Arlington.

Sgt. Baumann, 24 of Great Mills, died Aug. 1, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle in Afghanistan.
