Overheard in an Alaskan tavern: I got an idea, let's spin a cone-like thingie to split wood, then we'll use our manly-bits to force the wood into it! They'll never try that in the Lower 48!

Well, he couldn't chop this wood with an axe and still keep one hand warm. ;-)

I'll certainly give you faster, but I doubt very seriously easier.

I split 8 full cord a year. We heat with wood. I can knock out 50% more in the same time with a maul / axe / sledge&wedge than I can with my expensive gas powered splitter ... but it's waaaaaayyyyyyy easier with the splitter.
