Rotary Club is developing a project aimed at creating a centre of excellence for therapy of thalassemia at the Children Hospital of Rabat, Morocco. The project is also promoting information for prevention of thalassemia in Morocco. 76 ill children are treated within the project

The accumulation of iron in the body, due to blood transfusions, causes among other problems (heart, lever, kidney, etc) a darkenig of the skin, which is a typical symptom of thalassemia. If the patient is properly treated with chelators for a long period, the skin reverts to a lighter colour. Good luck!
